Vizantiyskiiy vremennik. Volume 106
ОГЛАВЛЕНИЕ
The next volume of the oldest academic yearbook presents works on various aspects of the history and culture of the Byzantine Empire. The authors focus on the ecclesiastical history of early Byzantium, the relationship of the Romans with their neighbors in the East, and various aspects of the history of Byzantine literature, painting, architecture, and applied art. In the article by R. Shukurov, an attempt is made to reconstruct, based on the few surviving sources, a possible form of the oath of allegiance to the basileus, which had to be taken by Muslim mercenaries in Byzantium. The section of publications of sources is significant in terms of volume, among which the first Russian translation of one of the most important sources on the history of medieval Christianity, the treatise of the Greek monk Nilus Doxopatra "The Order of Patriarchal Thrones", prepared by P. Kuzenkov, should be highlighted.
