French Institute of Byzantine Studies

Founded in 1895, the French Institute of Byzantine Studies (IFEB) is dedicated to research in the field of Byzantine and post-Byzantine studies: History and civilization of Byzantium; Orthodox Church and Theology; Modern Greece and Southeast Europe. Since 1952, it has the status of association. Under an agreement made in 1983, the IFEB and its documentary collections have joined the Institut catholique de Paris and, since 1995, the Jean de Vernon Library.
IFEB is publishing Revue des études byzantines and the collection Archives de l’Orient Chrétien.
